a few days ago we made a quick trip to sydney to say farewell to some really dear friends… our friends are moving back to the uk and im really not sure when we will see them again. nz i could cope with but the uk seems so far away!
we drove to their house from the gold coast for our last special afternoon together. the kids (and the mummas!) gossiped and giggled and then we headed to chinta ria for dinner. on a side not… they do the yummiest asian food. the atmosphere is great for families with a constant hum of chatter so you never have to worry about the kids disturbing others! the food is served promptly which is another plus if your heading out for a meal with children. we all know how horrid it is to have the food take forever to arrive and then when it finally does the kids are over it so you eat as quick as you can, in record time, then you leave feeling nauseous and wondering what you were thinking taking your spirited child to a restaurant!
sorry… i got a bit sidetracked there with all the excitement about the yummy food… can you tell i really miss all my fave places to eat in sydney?
anyway, it was a really sad day… when we said goodbye in the carpark i felt really teary. when we drove off audrey lu yelled “ted” and then “archie” – that kind of ear piercing scream – with her hand stretched out the window as far as she could reach like she was trying to hold onto them. she sat quietly for a few minutes, looking terribly sad and then just said “i want ted” in the sweetest softest voice. ted is really the first best friend she has ever had who wasnt a girl and happened to be a boy. she never really liked boys till she met ted… ted and audrey talk all the time about getting married when they grow up. they love each other!
so it is with a heavy heart we say farewell for now… our friendship is one i will miss dearly… we said goodbye only a few days ago and we miss you all already!
