i just had the best time shooting these two looks…  while i was shooting, marika made a fun little behind the scenes video on her iphone using the 8mm app.  i just love how it turned out so i thought i would share it here with you guys!

i love everything about shooting fashion stories for magazines…  coming up with a concept, choosing the location and the talent, all the super cute outfits…  mostly i love the collaboration between myself and other creatives and seeing it all come together, the final product…

the film clip makes me feel nostalgic for moments with dear, sweet friends… for yesterdays where life was simple and carefree… im not sure why, but isnt it amazing how music can do that?

something about her raspy vocals and her beauty is just mesmerising!

ive listened to the song half a dozen times already so im going to spend some of tomorrow looking around at her other work.

i hope i find something just as lovely as this song!

im just wondering where i have been because i had never heard of lana del rey… it just reminds me that there are so many artists yet to be discovered which is exciting indeed… on that note, i would love to hear from others with song suggestions!  feel free to share links in the comments here or on my facebook page.

how sweet are these two little girls?  the day i met with melinda and her family it was overcast and rainy…  we found a dry place on the deck, threw a rug down and popped up a princess tent.  i must say, i really like rainy day shoots!

a few favourite images from a recent sydney portrait session…  a beautiful family and yummy golden light…  just perfect!

october has been crazy with me spending the last two weekends in sydney shooting!  ive photographed more than a few portraits, 2 christenings and a commercial shoot for a nappy company…  cant wait to share the images with you all soon!

i cant believe christmas is only 9.5 weeks away!  i have more sydney enquires and very few weekends free to schedule a trip…  perhaps ill come mid november?  if not, these dates below may be my last weekend dates for sydney.  for now here are the sessions i have available over the next 3 weeks…

i photographed sienna and her family almost a year ago. i really love when i get to photograph the same family at various times in their lives… getting to see these little people turn into bigger people is just so lovely! i especially love that they know you and feel at ease around you and you capture so much of who they are because your their friend… so cute!

BYRON BAY, GOLD COAST AND BRISBANE SESSIONS

i sometimes get asked why i dont share my dates for other locations on the blog…  i spend around 5 days a month in sydney shooting. whenever im not in sydney, im available to photograph sessions in byron bay, the gold coast and brisbane.

last week i did a kids editorial shoot for little one kids magazine.  it will be out in news agencies in september so thats super exciting!!!

right now im editing images for 3 client albums.  the designs are looking so gorgeous so i cant wait to share them with you!

i did a road trip to port macquarie with my little sister to see my nanna who was sick. she is now in heaven… she will be missed. it was terribly sad… im really not good with hospitals but i enjoyed seeing my family so much! some of my cousins i hadnt seen since i was a teenager and we are all adults now, with careers, husbands… its great to remember times when life was so simple. when you didnt have a care in the world! you swam in the pool all day and ran around with wet hair in the sunshine… thinking about those days i told myself i must do more of that this summer!

anyway, with all thats been going on, i had forgotten that im coming to sydney to shoot in less than a week!  i cant believe how quickly these trips come around…  ill see my lovely friends. ill talk and laugh {lots!}.  i will eat bills ricotta hotcakes for breakfast at least once and ill go to a few of my favourite boutiques!  oh how i love sydney!

and cause no blog post is complete without photos…  and because it was super chilly here today and we are talking of going on a snow adventure later this month…  here are some super cute images of audreys lus first snow trip.  these were taken in 2005 when she was just 2 years old!  isnt she just the cutest little snow bunny ever!!!  actually, she skied that year and did surprisingly well…  now looking back, she just looks so tiny…  i find it hard to believe i put her on skis!

we have just had 3.5 weeks of school holidays so life has been busy!  i have loved every minute of having audrey home and we have done so much fun stuff!

we did numerous trips to brisbane to visit friends and go vintage shopping cause audrey and i LOVE that!  we ate loads of sushi and rode our bikes lots.  we took so many photos.  audrey and i came up with a 21 day photo challenge just before the holidays and she loved having a little photo assignment everyday – we often had to plan our activities around what she wanted to shoot which was super cute!

audrey had her 8th birthday right in the middle of the holidays which was lots of fun!  we went to brisbane to see cirque du soleil and stayed in the emporium hotel which i would highly recommend…  the rooms were gorgeous and the staff were so kind and lovely…  im told it was a super special and grown up way to spend ones 8th birthday!  then we had the birthday party. i did all the usual party things and a photo booth because its all she wanted but i was determined to keep it simple.  ill be back soon to share photos and stories about the day and some recipes too!

anyway, i was kind of sad when audrey lu headed off to school today…  ill miss having her little smiling face around and hearing all her stories and jokes and being tickled when im trying to work! on the upside…  i got through so much work today and thats a relief cause things were really starting to pile up around here but its so hard to get things done in the school holidays!

to all my lovely and patient clients… this week will be spent getting on top of emails, editing like crazy and getting orders off to the lab.  today was super productive and im sure i will have caught up by the time the week ends!

another sydney trip is just around the corner… ill be announcing my sydney dates for this august and september in the next week.  be sure to send me an email if you are considering a session for your family so you can be one of the first to know.  ive also had a few nz enquiries so im seriously considering a trip there soon but more on that later.

because i cant do a post without a photo, here is a photo i took of audrey when she wasnt expecting it…  i was meant to be setting up the camera for her so she could do a self portrait but i just loved how she was playing with a treasure she had found in the garden and looking around at all the flowers and gazing up at the leaves and the sky, just dreaming the way kids do!  oh how i love her!  rowe x
