i feel so blessed to have some of the most amazing clients!

i photographed a gorgeous family last year… i cant believe i havent shared this session yet! i love so many images but for now im sharing just this one photo…

meet little miss olive!  isnt she just beautiful?

within minutes of arriving at this families super cool home i was gushing over all olives pretty things… i was in love with olives extremely fashionable wardrobe! her mumma, kelly, sure has a great sense of style and she seemed to love all of the same things as me! dont you love that, when you meet someone and you have so much in common right from the start?

anyway, the shoot went brilliantly and i was absolutely taken with olive by the time we were done!

fast forward a month or two…  kelly receives her collection of images and to my surprise i get the most beautiful letter and a gorgeous gift in the post… i was so moved by her thoughtfulness and her sweet words… it makes my heart so happy when someone loves their images! i especially loved that kelly felt inspired to follow her heart after spending just a little time with me…  i have no idea what i did to inspire her but i do love that she took the time to write me and tell me so because who doesnt love mail!!!

needless to say, we have become fast friends because shes awesome!!!  i started to think about what she could do that would make her heart sing. i suggested she should start her own blog sharing all the things she loves… gorgeous rooms, stylish kids clothing, recipes…  anything and everything really!  i offered to help kelly set up her own blog and give her a quick lesson on how it all works. we have made plans to spend a a few hours together one day soon and i cant wait to see how amazing her little adventure will turn out!

in the meantime…  with mothers day being tomorrow and kellys blog not being a reality yet, i just couldnt let this gorgeous post she wrote go unshared!  she has such a way with words and how great is all the stuff on her wish list?  pretty impressive for her first ever blog post!  i think i just might be sharing more posts from kelly in the future so watch this space…

The School

I would love nothing more than a Sunday to myself to learn, craft, create and be inspired (and as a bonus be surrounded by fabulous crafty people!!).

Megan Morton’s… Uber stylist extraordinaire created a space called ‘the School’ at Koskela - its the perfect place for all things crafty! Courses range from the amazing flowerbombs, garland making, cupcake-baking to the sublime Rachel Castle screen printing or try a Master Class with Megan herself!

So much cooler than school ever was and any afternoon not spent with Dora the explorer in the background sounds like bliss to me!!

Books

Great books are always a winner in my house and this newbie by super-stylist Shannon Fricke is top of my list!!

Pip Lincolne’s book of crafty-lovliness has been on my wish list for some time too…

Castle Sheets and Pillows

Ask most mums what they actually want for Mothers Day and im betting they probably say a sleep in, more sleep, breakfast in bed etc you get the picture!! So why not spoil mum with the most amazing bed linen from Castle and Things?

Bright pops of colour, retro prints, all cotton and made in Oz makes me happy just thinking about it!

Feed Bags

Us mums are pretty awesome at giving and for a pressie with a conscious, look no further than the Feed bag!

Inspired by Lauren Bush, these canvas totes have a kinda special purpose too.. buying one feed bag, feeds one child for one year through the UN World Food programme or maybe more, depending on which bag you purchase!  And did I mention it looks pretty eco-chic too!!

my last few trips to sydney have been all rained out…  i imagine its the worst summer they have ever had or i just have terrible timing!

this shoot was cut short because the dark clouds eventually did open up and the rain poured down but i love what i did capture in our brief time together!  i really love the light on overcast days…  its so soft and pretty!

last november i photographed gabes 1st birthday on the gold coast.

it was the most well thought out party with delicious food and loads of cool things going on…  i thought it would be nice to share a few photos with you from the day and some useful links on how to create a party like this, incase your feeling inspired!  besides, who doesnt love a circus themed party?

i asked sophie if she wanted to share a little about the day and the preparation involved, a few of the details and here is what she said (ive added links and a comment here and there too)…

With so much of the party being DIY, it meant a lot of cooking, organising and setting up had to be done at the last minute.  In fact, much if it was done just hours before the party!

note (from rowe) : people were working in every room but the mood was calm and organised and by the time the guests arrived, the party area looked amazing!

I got my design inspiration from blogs and websites featuring birthday parties.  A lot of the decorations ideas I picked up online at different party supplies websites.  Keeping in mind all of the various ideas I had seen, I created a vision that I thought worked for our space.  A lot of what I ended up doing was decided at the last minute and worked out just as well as the things I had planned months in advance!

With the cakes, I had such limited time and needed to find as many short cuts as possible!  The vanilla cream cupcakes I made at home using a white wings cupcake mix!  I bought the pastel striped patty cases online at Robert Gordan Australia and got the pink flags at Wheel and Barrow.

The popcorn cupcakes were home made.  See the recipe here!  On top of the cupcakes were torn marshmallow with dabs of yellow food dye to resemble popcorn.  Sofia at http://casaazuldesign.com made the cases for me as PDF files and I printed them at home.

note (from rowe) : these cakes were so yummy its insane!  i could have eaten 3 but stopped myself at 1 thankfully…

Gabe’s birthday cake was another white wings creation (dark chocolate mud).  The flags on top of the cake were made by Sofia.

He had the best time crushing that cake with his little fingers and it didn’t really make it to any of the guests lips unfortunately!  Gabe successfully managed to destroy it instead!

Inside the party bag, we gave all the babies a mini musical instrument, circus themed maze and a small bubble blower.  We wanted to keep it simple and give them things we thought they would actually use rather than a whole heaps of things that would end up under the bed or in the trash can.  I put all of these things into a small muslin bag with a blue or pink ribbon attached (depending on whether the child was a girl or boy).

i just had the best time shooting these two looks…  while i was shooting, marika made a fun little behind the scenes video on her iphone using the 8mm app.  i just love how it turned out so i thought i would share it here with you guys!

i love everything about shooting fashion stories for magazines…  coming up with a concept, choosing the location and the talent, all the super cute outfits…  mostly i love the collaboration between myself and other creatives and seeing it all come together, the final product…

the film clip makes me feel nostalgic for moments with dear, sweet friends… for yesterdays where life was simple and carefree… im not sure why, but isnt it amazing how music can do that?

something about her raspy vocals and her beauty is just mesmerising!

ive listened to the song half a dozen times already so im going to spend some of tomorrow looking around at her other work.

i hope i find something just as lovely as this song!

im just wondering where i have been because i had never heard of lana del rey… it just reminds me that there are so many artists yet to be discovered which is exciting indeed… on that note, i would love to hear from others with song suggestions!  feel free to share links in the comments here or on my facebook page.

how sweet are these two little girls?  the day i met with melinda and her family it was overcast and rainy…  we found a dry place on the deck, threw a rug down and popped up a princess tent.  i must say, i really like rainy day shoots!

a few favourite images from a recent sydney portrait session…  a beautiful family and yummy golden light…  just perfect!

october has been crazy with me spending the last two weekends in sydney shooting!  ive photographed more than a few portraits, 2 christenings and a commercial shoot for a nappy company…  cant wait to share the images with you all soon!

i cant believe christmas is only 9.5 weeks away!  i have more sydney enquires and very few weekends free to schedule a trip…  perhaps ill come mid november?  if not, these dates below may be my last weekend dates for sydney.  for now here are the sessions i have available over the next 3 weeks…
