{kids were here ~ july edition}

a few months ago i was invited to be part of this super fun project called kids were here!  25 photographers from around the globe share their perspective on what life with children really looks like!

this is actually my first time photographing images for it and writing a post so i found it amusing that i was actually walking around my house looking for mess worth photographing…  im pretty sure its the first time ive ever hoped audrey would be messy!

i really love what Ginger Unzueta had to say about the project…

“When I first began this project, I thought it would be fun to document the every day messes my children make.  As the weeks have passed, this project has really become so much more than that.

It’s not really about messes at all, but about the stories they tell.  It’s about traces of childhood I see throughout my home on a daily basis. It’s about the love we share together.  It’s about living and being…creating, making, learning and trying.   This project leaves me a beautiful story each month of the reminders that Kids are here now…and the time, well, its all too fleeting, isn’t it?   We all need to embrace these moments and just live them too; because they really are the best moments of life.”

school holidays are here so there has been no shortage of messy corners to shoot!

we just had a dear friend visiting us from australia! her little boy is obsessed with dinosaurs and i could find little collections of them near by at any given moment!

one thing you can always find somewhere in our house is a collection or art supplies, usually left right in the midst of creating something wonderful!

we have gorgeous frangipani trees in our garden… i love seeing audreys little collections all over the place!

then there is the daily hair accessory pile to be found around 7.30am somewhere in the house because we must tip all hair ties out in order to find the most perfect one!

while i was busy catching up on editing, audrey pretty much spent a whole day watching dvds in her bed {eeekkkk… mother of the year}! i love that she ate mung bean chips in there {the whole bag!} and it didnt bother her one bit that there were crumbs everywhere!

and because i cant help myself… here is a little glimpse at what went on behind the scenes a few moments before i captured the very first dinosaur image… how cute is little lucas?

if you like the idea and you think you might like to shoot some of your own little messes, like our facebook page and share your own image over there with us because we would love to see them!  rowe x

Bee - I think Audrey needs lessons in making a real mess, 2 days in our house and we could teach her. The best mess is when a cubby house gets made in the lounge room with couch cushions and blankets!!!!
