{10 on 10 ~ bali edition ~ february 2015}

we had a pretty quiet, non eventful weekend so for february’s 10 on 10 i am sharing photos from a rather ordinary day.

i think the ordinary moments will be the ones we struggle to remember. the small moments in-between all the big stuff so i tried to find beauty in the mundane, everyday this month.

my view. audrey lu in the afternoon light.

this is kind of cheating… this image was’nt taken on sunday like all of the others. it was taken monday but i can’t help but share. audrey has gone off to grade 6 camp! what? when on earth did she get so big? im not sure how this happened… i told her to come sit on the wall with her friends and let me take a photo before they left. she rolled her eyes but i said ‘you know i won’t leave until i’ve taken the photo so let’s get this over with’. i sent text messages about her food allergies to all the teachers last night to see she had enough to eat and she wasn’t missing out on anything. to see how everything was going. i am pretty sure they think i am some kind of crazy stalker but i don’t mind one bit because one of them called me this morning and was ever so sweet telling me everything and now i feel way more relaxed! i wonder if other parents miss their kids like crazy and go a little nuts when they aren’t near by? only one more sleep and she will be home… YIPPEE!

anyway, thanks so much for popping by! i am sure most of you know how this works… follow the link to see a little snippet of alana harris’s life, then keep going around the circle till you come back to me.

if you shoot your own 10 on 10, be sure to leave a link in the comments so i can take a peek! rowe x

{10 on 10 ~ january 2015}

my first post for 2015… hope you all had a magical christmas and new year!

we are home in australia for the holidays! its so lovely to spend time with family and friends and i really love eating at all my favourite places and stocking up on the things we can’t get in bali and miss terribly while we are away… spelt pasta, herbal tea and our favourite toothpaste. i can’t believe how much i love my toothpaste from home…

last year i didnt shoot as many personal photos as i would have liked… i am hoping this year will be different and i am super excited to be taking part in the 10 on 10 project with the most inspiring friends for another year!

today im sharing photos from a few moments at the beach in kingscliff. its the most peaceful spot with very few people around… i love capturing these kinds of days. audrey singing and dancing in the wind. truly beautiful in every way!

notice something different? a little bit of sparkle? audrey has begged to get her ears pierced forever… the months leading up to christmas she said it was all she wanted. i was so reluctant because i remember having constant infections as a child. i no longer wear earrings because one ear was so troublesome. how can i say no to that face though? boxing day we did it and she is so crazy in love with them! fingers crossed they heal ok in humid bali…

thanks so much for stopping by! be sure to stop by and take a peek at nicole’s sunshiny images. rowe x

{kaleidoscope project ~ cambodia edition ~ november 2014}

after a rather long break… I’m super excited to share that the kaleidoscope project is back this month! i love feeling inspired by sweet friends to shoot and edit family photos… YAY!

kaleidoscope.wordmark copy

Kaleidoscope  is derived from the Ancient Greek (kalos), “beautiful, beauty” (eidos), “that which is seen: form, shape” and (skopeo), “to look to, to examine.”  Hence “observation of beautiful forms.

We are a group of friends, mummas, visual artists and photographers from around the world who are passionate about capturing images of the real, the messy and the magical – the wonder of the everyday. Like a kaleidoscope, our photographs are playful and experimental, ever-changing and infused with light and colour. They reflect the shared meaning and beauty in our lives.

for those of you who don’t know, we visited cambodia in may and had the most wonderful time! i shared lots of photos on instagram and a random photo or two on FB but for the most part, i downloaded all my cards and forgot about them once home and into the busyness of everyday life! a few days ago i started to edit photos from our japan holiday last month thinking i would share them for this months kaleidoscope project and then thought choosing a day from our cambodia adventure should come first!

i have been harping on about going to cambodia since we arrived in bali but we often leave it till the last minute to plan stuff and the tickets end up being more than we want to spend. this time, we just decided to make it happen. life is short. adventures nourish our souls so a couple of weeks before our visas were due to expire we did it… we would be away for 8 days. 5 days in siem reap and 3 days in phnom penh.

people were lovely. food was yummy. the weather was stifling hot so we made a habit of getting to bed early so we could head out first thing, stay out for as long as we could last and then head back to the hotel for a swim and a little cool, air conditioned air and lunch, then we would head out again in the afternoon.

i am sharing our first day out exploring. this day was made up of tuk tuk rides and temple visits in siem reap. this day we went to ta prohm {aka: tomb raider temple} which i think was one of my most favourite temples! not as grand as some of the bigger temples but there was something magical about it that i couldn’t quite put my finger on? in the afternoon we went to visit the bayon temple which had the most beautiful grounds surrounding it and was surprisingly quiet.

i fell head over heels in love with the temples and wanted to visit as many as we could manage! not overly exciting for my then 10 year old… she wonders why every time we travel we must visit temples and shrines. i think she would prefer to do a spot of shopping… such a tough life. poor little poppet! haha!

pop over to see how ginger unzueta captured halloween in her part of the world. you know its going to be magical… her images always are! from there you can visit another photographer and another, until you eventually come back to me! this post has me all excited to share more cambodia holiday photos. thanks for reading x
