we have just had 3.5 weeks of school holidays so life has been busy!  i have loved every minute of having audrey home and we have done so much fun stuff!

we did numerous trips to brisbane to visit friends and go vintage shopping cause audrey and i LOVE that!  we ate loads of sushi and rode our bikes lots. we took so many photos.  audrey and i came up with a 21 day photo challenge just before the holidays and she loved having a little photo assignment everyday – we often had to plan our activities around what she wanted to shoot which was super cute!

audrey had her 8th birthday right in the middle of the holidays which was lots of fun!  we went to brisbane to see cirque du soleil and stayed in the emporium hotel which i would highly recommend…  the rooms were gorgeous and the staff were so kind and lovely…  im told it was a super special and grown up way to spend ones 8th birthday!  then we had the birthday party. i did all the usual party things and a photo booth because its all she wanted but i was determined to keep it simple.  ill be back soon to share photos and stories about the day and some recipes too!

anyway, i was kind of sad when audrey lu headed off to school today…  ill miss having her little smiling face around and hearing all her stories and jokes and being tickled when im trying to work! on the upside…  i got through so much work today and thats a relief cause things were really starting to pile up around here but its so hard to get things done in the school holidays!

to all my lovely and patient clients… this week will be spent getting on top of emails, editing like crazy and getting orders off to the lab.  today was super productive and im sure i will have caught up by the time the week ends!

another sydney trip is just around the corner… ill be announcing my sydney dates for this august and september in the next week.  be sure to send me an email if you are considering a session for your family so you can be one of the first to know.  ive also had a few nz enquiries so im seriously considering a trip there soon but more on that later.

because i cant do a post without a photo, here is a photo i took of audrey when she wasnt expecting it…  i was meant to be setting up the camera for her so she could do a self portrait but i just loved how she was playing with a treasure she had found in the garden and looking around at all the flowers and gazing up at the leaves and the sky, just dreaming the way kids do!  oh how i love her!  rowe x

audrey…  thats who, and just quietly, im kind of freaking out about it!

at 7 she loved all things steiner ~ she goes to a steiner school so thats hardly surprising…  she loved handcrafted dolls, woolen and felt toys (unicorns, gnomies, animals, mother earth etc), collecting treasures from nature (flowers, stones, shells, pine cones, leaves, gems etc), painting with watercolours and drawing with pencils, reading beautiful picture books…

at 8 she still likes all of the above but she loves things that seem far too grown up…  her apple mac, taking photos and giving me lots of advice on how i could improve my own photography, blogging, ipods (and all the games that go with that – bakery story, zoo story, farm story, angry birds etc), the wii, collecting blythe dolls and kimmi dolls, drawing with texta, reading chapter books…  the list just goes on and on!

last year we had a pony party.  the kids had a pony each.  they groomed them and decorated them with ribbons.  they had little races and played fun games.  i made a horse cake.

this year we are having a photo booth party!  everyone will take turns being the photographer, the model, doing the hair…  audrey wants a camera cake… what?

the last year has to be the biggest change ive ever seen in her!  my lulu belle is no longer my bubba, even though i often still call her that several times a day!  she is so grown up!  i must confess, its all just a little scary…  does anyone else feel like this or is it just me?
