{miss you already}

a few days ago we made a quick trip to sydney to say farewell to some really dear friends…  our friends are moving back to the uk and im really not sure when we will see them again.  nz i could cope with but the uk seems so far away!

we drove to their house from the gold coast for our last special afternoon together.  the kids (and the mummas!) gossiped and giggled and then we headed to chinta ria for  dinner.  on a side not…  they do the yummiest asian food.  the atmosphere is great for families with a constant hum of chatter so you never have to worry about the kids disturbing others!  the food is served promptly which is another plus if your heading out for a meal with children.  we all know how horrid it is to have the food take forever to arrive and then when it finally does the kids are over it so you eat as quick as you can, in record time, then you leave feeling nauseous and wondering what you were thinking taking your spirited child to a restaurant!

sorry…  i got a bit sidetracked there with all the excitement about the yummy food…  can you tell i really miss all my fave places to eat in sydney?

anyway, it was a really sad day…  when we said goodbye in the carpark i felt really teary.  when we drove off audrey lu yelled “ted” and then “archie” – that kind of ear piercing scream – with her hand stretched out the window as far as she could reach like she was trying to hold onto them.  she sat quietly for a few minutes, looking terribly sad and then just said “i want ted” in the sweetest softest voice.  ted is really the first best friend she has ever had who wasnt a girl and happened to be a boy.  she never really liked boys till she met ted…  ted and audrey talk all the time about getting married when they grow up.  they love each other!

so it is with a heavy heart we say farewell for now…  our friendship is one i will miss dearly…  we said goodbye only a few days ago and we miss you all already!

Chantelle {fat mum slim} - Oh, my heart is so heavy.

I am so in love with the first photo {and all of them} but then when I read the words, and saw how sad Audrey was…. my heart ached.

I think they’ll make beautiful pen pals. x

{dressing up}

i must confess…  i am incapable of deleting most things.  thats not to say i dont back up, cause i do, but i worry that something will happen to that backed up version and then where will i be… so you can imagine the dilemma im often faced with – an extremely full hard drive and a laptop that runs so slow, its useless!  so i buy another laptop, problem solved!  its a great solution (and a good excuse to get a new computer) but i refuse to throw the old one out…  so a few years later, we have laptops in every room and i never know where anything is and it drives danny just a little crazy.  so im on a mission to get my life organised!  im cleaning up my 3 laptops so i can sell them all and buy a shiny sparkly new one!

what that really means is being distracted by all kinds of wonderful!  so many old photos that have been forgotten and all the beautiful memories that go with them.  audrey was just the most gorgeous little thing and looking at those photos reminds me of how small she really was and how grown up she is now!  i think she is still so tiny and i still call her baby girl but she is such a big person…  full of spunk and attitude with a smile that lights up any room!  she is an old soul, wise beyond her years.  i just love her to bits!

so i found a heap of pictures from when she was 2 and 3 and they made my heart melt…  that pale porcelain skin and those huge brown eyes – i just couldnt help sharing just a few here!

she just loved to dress up!  i cant believe i forgot how much she loved to wear hats…  she wore hats most days and she has the sort of face that looks gorgeous in a hat!  then there was this little crochet bolero covered in buttons that her nanna made her…  i could not get it off her long enough to wash it!

Margo Plowright - Audrey is so perfect here! I just love these photos and you are right she did just love that little pink top to bits. I think its time I made another one for the next photo shoot, involving hats and boleros…lol mum xxxxxx

Chantelle {fat mum slim} - I love looking back at those photos, remembering her then, remembering the clothes and taking myself back. It’s so special.

And I had to laugh at your multiple laptops… so true! I can’t keep up. x

{pony camp}

audrey has loved ponies for as long as i can remember!  i think pony was one of her first words and when we asked her what she wanted for her birthday when she was almost two…  a pony was what she asked for!

i had horses growing up so it came as no surprise to me that audrey lu was mad about them.  i think its just great to her loving something so wholesome.  today children are growing up far too fast and spending too much time indoors watching tv and perfecting their wii skills when they should be getting out in the fresh air and being active!

so ponies are ok with me!  i love to see audrey loving ponies…  seeing her so in love with horses just reminds me of my childhood and how crazy about ponies i was!  it reminds me of the endless hours i would spend at the paddock brushing, feeding and riding my ‘angel’ with all my pony friends.  oh how i cherish that time.

i have promised danny there will be no pony until audrey is atleast 10 years old.  i have barely enough time to look after my cat let alone a horse so for now we indulge her love for ponies with weekly riding lessons and pony camp in the holidays…

belinda - I would love to take the kids to riding lessons but so far haven’t been able to find anything close to us!!!
I so agree about to much tv, unfortunately that has been me this school holidays, I remember when we went weeks and weeks with out turning the tv on.

admin - when you come stay with us we will take the kids riding! im sure even though the kids are watching more than normal – it still wouldnt be much… dont forget that while your kids watch tv they are totally able to multi task where as mine sits watching in a fog and is totally oblivious to all things around her! rowe x
