life has been busy lately… ive been working on a few little projects with some super creative and talented people so i thought i would share one with you now and a few more in the next week or two!
in june i did a couple of shoots for a new magazine called MAEVE. if you havent seen it yet go take a peek… its full of inspiring words and beautiful images!
i just loved everything about the first issue so you can imagine my excitement when i was asked to be part of the second issue… i was super happy and so honored and ive loved every moment of working with the girls at maeve!
my first assignment was to take photos of the creative duo behind the successful childrens clothing brand, POLKA. if you dont know the brand, best go check it out but be prepared to be addicted to their bright and colourful patterns and quirky designs… we are pretty crazy about polka around here and have a whole heap of their gorgeousness overflowing from audrey lus closet… in fact, audrey has the frou frou dress they did a couple of summers ago in 3 different prints and the matching leggings cause it was just so darn cute that i couldnt resist having it in every print they offered!
so meet marika and jo and their sweet girls who are all of 3 and have to be the best dressed girls ever! we had a super fun morning tea at vintage espresso in mermaid beach… we ate yummy cupcakes, played snap and talked and giggled a whole lot causing just a little havoc i suspect, but no one seemed to mind too much!
thanks so much girls for a lovely time! hope you like the photos… rowe x
p.s. the absolutely gorgeous handcrafted dolls were made by the very talented haidee luna… more about them later!

ive always loved melbourne… its such a beautiful city, full or life and so much culture! danny was going for work and i decided to go too.
danny and i got to see dear new zealand friends. i shopped of course and we ate lots of yummy food. the best bit… i met jamie and ash for the first time! how much did i love meeting these super sweet girls?
kristen and i have been online friends for a while so i have heard so much about the girls and seen many photos! we spent the weeks leading up to the shoot talking about locations, clothing and props… we decided we would head to st kilda pier cause its super cute and besides the pier, there is the beach and a little wooden boardwalk and some grassy knolls.
the girls were counting down sleeps and we were all looking forward to it but on the day, things went a little pear shaped when melbourne decided to dish out the coldest weather in something like 30 years… it was beyond freezing! we did our best to make it work so we found little places we could huddle, sheltered from the wind (note: very small space surrounded by bushes)!
the girls were such little troopers… they really were… even though their lips had gone a pale shade of blue and i could hear their little teeth chattering they didnt complain… look at their little happy smiling faces!
at one point it rained and we took shelter in the car. i squished in the backseat with the girls, eating sweets, tickling them and listening to them giggle… even though the shoot didnt turn out as planned, i really loved meeting your family kristen and getting to know them just a little. hope you love the photos!
rowe xxx
p.s. kristen takes beautiful photos herself. she lives and works in melbourne so be sure to check out her website!
p.s.s. my favourite photo is the one where both the girls are holding kirstens hands so tightly… i dont know if its just me or if all mums feel the same, but i just love it when audrey holds my hand (which is pretty much anytime we are out) and i have often said to her… ‘ill be sad when you dont want to hold my hand anymore’. she squeezes my hand tightly and says… ’dont worry mumma, ill always want to hold your hand’. i feel so happy for a moment but know pretty soon she will be too big for holding hands with her mumma and then i feel just a little sad!

{this moment} a friday ritual. a single photo. no words. capturing a moment from the week.
a simple, special, extraordinary moment. a moment i want to pause, savor and remember - soule mama (via rummey bears).
i heart melbourne! rowe x

here are some more photos of alec and his toys from the shoot i posted yesterday. i thought there were just too many for one post and i was kind of keen to be in bed at a decent hour which is a rarity around here…
im pretty sure the scooter was the fastest vehicle because i didnt get many photos of alec on that because he zoomed past faster than i could run! how cool is the little mercedes… rowe x

i was so excited when julie asked me to shoot her boys!
ive photographed julie a few times in the past when she was modeling but i hadnt seen her in the longest time! i had only met her eldest boy, alec once and id never met her new baby boy, addison… so i was really looking forward to seeing them and taking some fun photos.
it was terribly cold and on the verge of rain but it held out and we got some great photos of alec and all his boy toys! he loves to go fast… he rides one toy after another to see which will go the fastest and isnt too keen on stopping for a photo cause that would be super boring so i ran lots… as fast as i could, trying to keep up!
addison slept through most of the shoot and when he woke we bought him outside for a few photos and then thought better of it when his little nose turned bright red… did i mention it was a freezing cold day in sydney? anyway, i snapped a few of him on the rug but my favourites were taken in the high chair at lunch… how sweet is he!
ive decided there are too many for one post so i will share these ones now and a few more tomorrow. hope you like them jules, rowe x
